In their shoes – changing the life of one of our tenants

85_Hands x2.png

We try our best to help you overcome any challenges you face in your home and to improve the way you live. One particular tenant has seen their life dramatically change for the better and they now look forward to a better future as one of our tenants.

To protect their identity we have given them a pseudonym but the story and the pictures shown are real.

Margaret lives in one of our one bedroom first floor flats and was on the edge of being evicted due to the serious health and safety concerns over the cleanliness of her home. Margaret was at rock bottom with seemingly no way of changing the state of her home. Thankfully we devised a plan and offered to do a deep clean of her house and arranged for her to have the support she needed. Numerous visits were carried out and it was identified that Margaret had a number of medical issues that needed addressing. Before and after picture.JPG

We supported Margaret with clearing out a lot of clutter in her house and did a deep clean of the property. She was also referred to the Wellbeing Service delivered by Lincs Independent Living Partnership which helped her get back onto her feet.

This tenant has made a huge turn around, but not only has her tenancy become more sustainable she is now much happier and more confident.

Margaret said: “Originally I was very alone and at rock bottom. I didn’t know where to go and I was frightened of asking for help. I needed a really big push to get me onto my feet again and I needed some serious motivation.

“The support I’ve received from Acis has helped build my confidence and I’m no longer the person I was before.

“My home is now at a point where I want to stay here. Before I never wanted to come home so I would spend money avoiding the place. I now want to stay here and I take pride in myself and my home.

“I feel really fantastic and I’m on cloud nine. Before I had the help from the people at Acis I didn’t want to do anything. I was given a final warning about the state of my house and if I didn’t change my ways I could have been left homeless. Thankfully the people from Acis gave the help and motivation to make a change. I can’t thank them enough.”
