The Rent to Buy scheme from Acis is designed to give you time to save enough money for a deposit to buy a home.
The scheme is open to households earning less than £60,000 (joint applicants) or £45,000 (single applicants) per year who would otherwise be unable to buy a home.

You will be eligible if you are either:
- A first time buyer
- A previous home owner who cannot now afford to buy without help (perhaps because of a break down within a relationship)
- A Housing Association or Council tenant
Homes can be rented for up to three years at the reduced rate of 80% of market value. The scheme has been designed to give you time to save enough money for a deposit to buy the property. You will have the first option to buy the property at the end of the first year of renting. At that stage, if you go on to buy a minimum 50% share of the property, you will receive back the rent you’ve paid in the first twelve* months towards the deposit for your mortgage.
*For a limited time Acis have extended this offer to 12 months from the original 6 months period.
At the end of the three year period we will look at your situation again. If you can afford to then you can buy part of the property under the Shared Ownership scheme. If we find that you cannot afford to buy any share of the property we will review your tenancy. However, there is no guarantee that it will be renewed and you may be given the appropriate notice to vacate the property.
What other costs are there?
A bond payment is taken from you when you sign your tenancy agreement. This is a 'one off' payment which is held by Acis Group until such time as you purchase the property or your tenancy is ended.
