Warning - bogus callers

Please be aware of bogus callers at your door, claiming that they work for Acis and are visiting regarding loft installation.

Always remember to ask anyone calling at your door and claiming to be from Acis to show their ID badge.

Warning - phone scam

We have been made aware that there is currently a telephone scam taking place targeting vulnerable people in the West Lindsey area (Gainsborough and surrounding villages). People are being targeted by cards posted through their letter boxes. The cards state that a parcel has attempted to be delivered to the address and requests that a telephone number is called in order to organise delivery. The number starts with 090. When this number is dialled it connects to a premium number costing around £350 per call. Police have advised that people stay vigilant and contact them if they receive anything suspicious.

Acis gives support to local community projects

Acis Group has given a helping hand to local communities via their Community Fund scheme.

Charitable organisations and groups were given the opportunity to apply for a small grant for use in the local community for projects or initiatives. A total of over 30 applications were received, of which 13 were selected for funding.

Each of the projects, from the West Lindsey and Sheffield areas, will receive up to £2,000 to enable them to continue their work within the community.

The successful applicants include Earthbound Misfits, Richardson Play Park Group, Caistor in Bloom Group, Volunteer and Contact Association: Gainsborough Allotment, Home Start, WLDC Skills Fair, Riverside Training, Gainsborough and District Support Group, Tuesday Craft Group, Arts and Social Club, Monday Social Group (all West Lindsey), Wildlife Trust for Sheffield and Rotherham, and the British Red Cross.

This second phase of the community funding initiative for 2011 follows on from an additional eight projects which received funding from Acis earlier in the year.

Rachel Cook, Community Cohesion Manager for Acis and co-ordinator of the Community Fund, said:
“Since October 2009, the Acis Community Fund has provided 36 charitable organisations and groups with grants for use in the local community. As a result, approximately 4,000 people living within our homes have directly engaged or benefited from Community Fund initiatives, including children, young people, families and the elderly via education, training and employment activities. This supports our commitment to creating better places to live by investing in the development of healthy, wealthy and wise communities.”

“Getting involved with local communities and supporting them by providing financial assistance is something we are proud to do. Charitable organisations and groups can find obtaining funding difficult. Obtaining funding is never easy and we are delighted to give these excellent initiatives some extra help.”
