Tenant's responsibility

What am I responsible for repairing?

In some instances you are responsible for the upkeep of your home. These include:

  • Repairs that are needed as a result of damage caused by you or your family or visitors
  • Repairs to appliances, fittings etc which you have installed
  • Minor repairs (see below)
  • Sweeping the chimney
  • Broken glass

If damage has been caused maliciously and you cannot provide us with a crime reference number from the police you will be also be charged for the repair.

If we attend to a repair and find the repair is needed due to neglect or misuse we may well charge you for the cost (e.g. blocked plumbing or drainage).

The minor repairs you are responsible for include:

  • Altering doors for carpets
  • Replacing lost or damaged keys
  • Small plaster cracks
  • TV aerials
