Sharon has been supporting our customers to gain job ready skills such as preparing CVs, enrolling onto courses and interview preparation.
And the success of the programme continues to grow. Since starting in the role earlier this year, Sharon has helped 30 people on the programme with six of those finding work.
On the success of the programme, Sharon said: "Accelerate is working really well. We've achieved a lot in a short space of time and there's a lot more to come!"

Hello! I’d like to introduce myself, I’m Sharon and I am the Customer Support Officer working with those who are on the Accelerate project.
I have a background in supporting people to gain skills and employment having delivered a number of employability workshops. I’ve helped to create CV’s and cover letters, supported with increasing confidence for interviews and helped with job searches, as well as offering advice regarding courses and careers knowledge in order to support and signpost people within their chosen personal development and/or career path. If you need anything employment related, I’m here to help!
As your Customer Support Officer, I will support you on an individual basis to accelerate your career and help you achieve your work and skills goals. We can work together to assess how to empower and enable you to overcome any barriers towards your chosen path.

Our Accelerate project is about much more than just employability skills. We are here to help people change their lives in positive ways, whilst keeping employment at the front of their minds. From full time work to simply giving you the confidence to meet new people, Accelerate is here for you.
We appreciate that people may have different needs when it comes to employability support and Sharon, our Customer Support Officer for Accelerate, can do just that!
Dean, a customer who heard about Accelerate through his work coach at the Jobcentre, got in touch with Sharon to help find training courses.
Low on confidence, Dean approached Sharon for the help and guidance he needed to gain the skills and confidence so he could be ready for mixing with people, gaining social skills, training and, ultimately, work.
Sharon helped Dean with introductions to training providers and find and enrol onto courses to suit his needs as well as supporting small changes such as improving his CV.
The improved confidence Dean gained through Accelerate not only helped his employability, but his social life too. He joined the Pathways group and built up his confidence to attend their coffee shop, making new friends along the way.
On the impact Accelerate has had on his life, Dean said: “It has given me something positive to look forward to and has helped me gain new experiences and social skills.
“I hope to continue to see Sharon as I have ambitions to keep building my confidence and take further courses and training.”
Sharon said: “I look forward to seeing Dean and we have built up a good rapport.
“I have noticed that his confidence has improved over the time he has been on the programme and has worked hard in attending and completing all the courses that we had planned for him to do plus making friends along the way.”
A disabled Gainsborough resident has seen her confidence soar after successfully gaining voluntary work.
With support from our Accelerate project, Anna* was looking for courses and work experience that she could benefit from despite her disabilities and mental health problems.
And at 60 years old, Anna’s confidence had taken a knock as she thought getting back into a work environment was beyond her with her several barriers.
But, after meeting with our Customer Support Officer for Accelerate, Sharon, Anna was put at ease and her confidence began to grow thanks to Sharon’s support.
After identifying what Anna’s interests and skills were and where she’d like to gain more experience, Sharon worked with Anna to improve her IT skills through a basic IT course and found a local employer who could offer her some work experience.
What initially started as a few days has now lead to four months of voluntary work which has seen Anna excel and gain her confidence back thanks to the Accelerate project finding her a disability friendly employer.
On her new found confidence, Anna said: “I’m so happy with the outcome of my referral into the Accelerate project.
“My confidence has improved and I’m continuing to learn throughout my time in my new role.
“Thank you for getting me up and going again!”

“It’s not just about finding full time work for people. We also help people who just need that bit of extra support in finding a course, help with their CV or how to approach a job interiview.
“I’m delighted that Anna has found something that makes her happy and confidence.”

Kieran Willerton approached our Accelerate project for some support in finding suitable courses to, ultimately, find employment.
With his confidence slipping due to knock backs, Kieran got in touch with our Customer Support Officer for Acclerate, Sharon, in the hope of gaining this support.
He said: “I was applying for work but I didn’t know what courses to apply for or where to even start looking for this.”
After working with Sharon, Kieran improved his CV and took on a level one Retail Training course which he passed and saw his confidence begin to grow.
Accelerate is here to not only help people into work but also support people in gaining the skills to succeed in what they try; and Kieran is no different.
He added: “Sharon also suggested that I try some voluntary work to gain retail experience, so I thought I’d give it a go.
“I really enjoyed it. I get on well with all the staff and customers and it’s really helped me improve my people skills and I also have a reference now thanks to my voluntary employer.
“This has been important for me as it shows future employers that I am currently doing something and showing I can be reliable and willing to try things.
“Thank you, Sharon. You’ve helped me a lot. I never thought I’d be able to push myself forward like I have.”
