Mobility scooters at our independent living schemes
Many people with mobility problems often use mobility scooters to get around. At our independent living schemes, we need to make sure our buildings are kept free of any obstructions and we reduce any fire safety risks.
If you want to start using a scooter and store it at one of our independent living schemes, you’ll need to ask for permission to store it. Space is limited and we tend to give permission on a first come, first served basis.
In order for us to agree for you to store a mobility scooter, you must be able to show:
- You have valid insurance for your scooter
- You have had your scooter / charging appliance tested in the last 12 months and it is deemed safe (you will need to ensure it is tested a minimum of every 12 months)
You will also need to agree to only charge you scooter between 8am and 6pm and to ensure that scooters are stored in designated areas only.
