Volunteering
If you’re interested in volunteering, then your university will have some exciting opportunities available! If you're passionate about improving the student experience, consider becoming a course representative or joining your students' union. Or you might even fancy helping out in the local community.
You don't need previous experience for most volunteering opportunities. Enthusiasm and a willingness to get stuck in are often the most important qualities.

Joining a society is a great way to get involved and take part in something you already enjoy doing, as well as meeting some new friends along the way. You might even think about trying something new instead!
Societies bring together students with shared interests, making it easier to start conversations and build friendships. They also provide regular events and activities, helping you stay connected throughout the academic year.

Why not use your time at university to develop your skills and knowledge or try things you’ve never done before. It’s a great time to explore your interests further, and find new skills that you’re naturally great at!

Employment
Need a bit of extra cash, or just looking to build up your CV? If you haven’t considered a part-time job before, then now’s the time. There are lots of opportunities available, and they’re flexible so you can easily work around your studies.
These jobs often allow you to meet students and staff from across the university, helping you build connections and confidence. Taking up employment now can also help you develop transferable skills that will benefit your future career.
