Riverside Training help people realise their potential through skills training, qualifications and employability support. They can adapt their delivery to suit individual needs to help people succeed.
Recently, a participant was introduced to the team through the local Job Centre. The participant was struggling to find jobs that would fit around childcare. Having spoken with the participant about her goals, the team at Riverside Training created an educational pathway for her. The participant was enrolled on a teaching assistant qualification which also included certificates in Understanding Autism, Understanding Behavior that Challenges, and Employability Skills. The participant praised the team at Riverside for their support “They were all so friendly and there for me when I needed them. They were helpful and were available when I wanted to pop in for a chat.”
As part of the course at Riverside, the participant was able to write an up-to-date CV and practice mock job interviews which helped build her confidence. With this new-found confidence, they were encouraged by the Riverside team to apply for a role at a local school. Speaking about her interview experience she said, “I was nervous on my interview, but I pushed myself to go.” A combination of the educational pathway she studied, her improved confidence, and her efforts studying have led to the participant successfully securing a new career. She recalled the moment she found out, “The interview took place early afternoon and late afternoon the Headteacher called me to offer me the job. I felt nervous and excited but very happy when I found out I got the job.”
Jo Marsh, Engagement and Support Coach at Riverside Training, praised the participants efforts, “I am incredibly proud of her. It’s been rewarding to see her progress and to see her determination pay off, and I’m pleased to have played a part in her journey towards employment.”
The participant has gone from strength to strength since starting, and has continued to learn alongside their work “I am working hard to adapt myself to new surroundings and new experiences, I have also started some online training courses. I’m enjoying this new opportunity and looking toward the future”
