First time attendee, Cody joined the Resilience and Coping Strategy course held at Riverside in partnership with Lincolnshire County Council (LCC), to build self-esteem and confidence.

The Resilience and Coping Strategy course helps people to re-focus their goals, gain motivation, problem solve and create actions.

The course is uplifting for individuals who has low confidence or struggle to deal with overwhelming emotions.

At the age of 35, Cody was referred to the course by her peer support worker to help her gain confidence and learn how to react in situations when faced with anxiety.

After a tough few years, Cody is ready to learn whatever it takes to deal with anxiety symptoms.

With optimism and determination, she says: “[The course] has been brilliant.

“The tutor, is very understanding, very helpful, and doesn’t judge.”

This course will help Cody to recognise the warning signs to prevent becoming overwhelmed and stressed.

The Employment Coach and Tutor will help Cody learn different ways to cope with daily challenges with the goal to get back into work.

She says: “Cody has a very calming nature, regardless of her obstacles she remains a clam and welcoming character.”

Her inspirational journey, and the people she has met along the way, has only motivated Cody to help other people as she dreams to become a peer support worker.

The tutor is certain Cody will achieve her ambitions and says: “I absolutely believe that she will achieve her goals as she is committed to helping people regardless of the obstacles that she is facing.

“She has all the people skills needed to fulfil this role and hopefully by continuing to attend these courses she will build her confidence and self-esteem.”

After a successful first day, Cody has enrolled on another course at Riverside and is already showing improvements.

The tutor says: “She was quite shy in the first session but soon opened up and for that I would like to thank Cody as I was able to tailor the session to help her the best I can.”
