Taking care of your mental health and wellbeing should always be top of your agenda, but sometimes it’s difficult to realise that you need support until you’re really feeling the pressure.

Here we’ve put together some tips for taking care of yourself, and information on where to get support should you need to reach out.

Eat regularly

It’s important to make sure you look after yourself, and this includes eating regularly and drinking enough. If you’re busy or not quite feeling yourself, it can sometimes be easy to forget to take care of yourself in this way.

Get outside

Make sure you’re getting plenty of fresh air and exercise. You don’t need to run a marathon, just regular walks outside can make a real difference. Discover new places to walk in the city, and why not take some friends with you too?

Keep in touch

It can be easy to feel weighed down with university or part time work, meaning you forget to link in with friends and family. Make sure you reach out to loved ones regularly and keep in touch. If you’re having a hard time, then tell someone.

Do something for yourself

Remember to take time for yourself, whether it be watching your favourite film, having a nice long shower or going shopping for some new books, make sure you remember to do the things that make you happy.

Be mindful

Sometimes just taking 10 minutes out of your day to clear your mind can really help you to focus and bring you back to the present.

You can find out more about mindfulness here.
