If you’re feeling lonely this Valentine’s Day, here’s your reminder to meet up with friends and focus on loving yourself instead.

You don’t need an excuse to buy flowers and chocolates for you or your pals!

Ways to pick yourself up:

  • Link in with friends – why not go for a group walk or try a new hobby?
  • Host a game or movie night in your flat – get everybody to join in and choose one!
  • Get your chef’s hat on and try baking and decorating some Valentine’s Day themed goodies!
  • Have a self-care evening – you could do some meditation, skincare or just read your favourite book. Whatever helps you to relax and unwind.
  • Make your own cards to tell your loved ones how much you appreciate them – this’ll help you tap into your creative side whilst reminding you and the recipient that you’re not alone.
  • Take yourself for a romantic meal or get together with friends for food and company.

Self-love hints and tips:

  • Make time for your interests and hobbies.
  • Notice how you talk to yourself and try to be kinder.
  • Practice affirmations – it doesn’t need to be every day, but if you start trying to incorporate them every now and then, you just might start to believe them.
  • Give mindfulness a go – it can be a great way to bring yourself back to the present.
  • Keep your flat and workspace tidy so you can focus.
  • Prioritise getting enough sleep.
  • Use a gratitude journal or worksheet to focus on the positives.
