When Chloe and Pete Webber first saw plans for Acis' new Regent Place development in Louth, they never imagined they would one day call it home.
Today, the couple live there with their two children, Freddie (three) and Francesca (eight months), having purchased a share in a three-bedroom home through Acis' shared ownership scheme.
Their move to Regent Place has transformed family life, providing the space, stability and peace of mind they had been searching for.
From stopgap flat to family home
Before moving to Regent Place, Chloe and Pete lived in a privately rented two-bedroom first-floor flat in Horncastle.
What was intended to be a temporary home became a long-term arrangement as the family grew.
"It was only ever meant to be a stopgap. Somehow, five and a half years later, we were living there with two kids,” said Chloe.
With no garden and limited space, Chloe says the home was becoming increasingly unsuitable for family life and was affecting the couple's wellbeing.
"We were stuck in the flat we were in. It was greatly affecting our mental health," she added.
Discovering shared ownership
The family's biggest barrier to homeownership was affordability.
With Pete working as a delivery driver and Chloe currently caring for their young children full time, buying a home outright felt out of reach.
"Financially we couldn't have done it," she said.
Chloe first discovered Regent Place while browsing shared ownership opportunities online. Although she loved the development, she initially assumed it wouldn't be possible for them.
However, after learning more about the shared ownership model and receiving support from Chloe's parents to purchase an initial 10 per cent share, homeownership suddenly became achievable.
Chloe explained: "We were in the position where, until we started properly looking and realised what opportunities you guys have, we were basically waiting to inherit our share from my parents' house. Shared ownership showed us there was another way."
The couple were also impressed by how straightforward the process was.
"It's all really, really clear," she said.
A home designed for the future
Completed earlier this year, Regent Place has delivered 47 energy-efficient homes in Louth, including properties available through shared ownership. The development features modern energy-saving technology, including solar panels and electric vehicle charging points, helping residents reduce their environmental impact and household costs.
For Chloe and Pete, those benefits were immediately noticeable.
She estimates the home's solar panels are already helping to reduce energy bills and says having an EV charging point has influenced the couple's future plans to switch to an electric vehicle.
The family particularly values the extra space, driveway parking and, most importantly, the garden.
Chloe said: "It's nice being able to have a place outside."
The first two things they did after moving in were making a cup of tea and putting up a washing line.
The outdoor space has quickly become Freddie's favourite place to play.
"Everyone was in the living room with all the toys and stuff before, but now because of the garden, Freddie spends so much time outdoors," she added.
A welcoming new community
The family has now been living at Regent Place for several weeks and has already settled into the growing community.
Chloe describes the development as friendly, welcoming and full of young families.
"People are always saying hello and good morning."
Residents have even created their own Facebook group to help neighbours connect.
Peace of mind for the future
Reflecting on the experience, Chloe praised the support she received from Acis, particularly Customer Relationship Officer (Property Sales) Sophie Wilkinson.
"When I asked for help, Sophie was able to provide it. Sophie was a real star," said Chloe.
Looking back on their journey, Chloe hopes her story encourages others to explore shared ownership as a route onto the property ladder.
And after years of believing homeownership was beyond their reach, she says finally having a place to call their own feels incredible: “It’s amazing. We never thought we'd get here any time soon, so actually being in somewhere that is ours, it's just this whole feeling of being at peace."
