Congratulations to Claire Woodward, our Director of Community Investment, who has been appointed as a non-voting co-opted member of the Greater Lincolnshire Combined County Authority Employment and Skills Board.

Claire was selected following a competitive recruitment process that attracted seven applicants from across the employment and skills sector.

Her expertise and experience in adult skills, employability, SEND provision, community learning and employment support were key reasons for her appointment.

She will add the voice of the independent training sector to the Board and provide valuable insight into the opportunities and challenges facing learners, employers and training providers across the county.

The Employment and Skills Board helps inform employment, skills and adult education priorities across Greater Lincolnshire, bringing together expertise from employers, training providers and education partners.

Claire said: “I’m excited to be able to represent the voice of independent training providers with the Mayoral combined authority and for us to be able to play an active part in delivering solutions that meet the needs of all communities.”

Claire has played a central role in driving Acis Group’s growth which, since 2020, has seen the charity bring into the Acis family:

  • Education charity Clip (Community Learning in Partnership)

  • Training provider Riverside Training

  • Alternative education provider Skills Centre Plus

  • Lincolnshire training charity Abbey Access Training

Claire also brings significant experience of supporting communities in rural and coastal areas, helping to ensure local perspectives are reflected in strategic discussions on employment, skills and adult education.

The Employment and Skills Board’s new appointments are designed to enhance its expertise and help shape policies and priorities that support residents, employers and providers across Greater Lincolnshire.
