Work placement student Louis Woodward hopes the experience he is getting as a Purchase Ledger Clerk with our finance team will help him decide what to do next after university.

Currently studying for a degree in economics, Louis finds finance interesting so he decided work experience would be a good way to gain some insight – and he saw Acis as the perfect place to start.

It will also give him the opportunity to find out if he enjoys it as he is unsure about what he wants to do once he finishes his degree.

His two-month placement includes shadowing different members of the purchase ledger team and completing daily tasks assigned to them.

Louis said: “Acis is a good company to do work experience for me as it is local and very flexible with working days and hours and allowed me to continue with my other part-time job.

“This work experience is a good insight into what a finance team does and gives me some direction in terms of the future and what I want to go into workwise.

“I have been able to see the different roles and steps the team completes to process invoices and purchase orders.

“I am also learning how to do these steps on the various systems we use and doing tasks such as putting invoices onto the system, matching invoices and a little bit of financial coding.

“I am getting an overview of the team and daily tasks they must complete along with challenges that arise.

“All the training’s very beneficial because it’s useful for anywhere you’re going to work.”

Elaine Hatzel, our Learning Business Partner, said: “We continue to offer opportunities that have a big impact on young people’s lives and build relationships with future talent whenever possible.”
