We’re looking for a number of people to join our Board, with various roles available. We’re actively looking for people with a mix of skills to help us move forward as we help people to live better lives.

What we were: We were a simple housing association, with a few thousand homes in Lincolnshire and South Yorkshire.

What we are now: We’ve transformed into something more, offering a range of services to help people live better lives. We have homes available at affordable rent, shared ownership, student accommodation, supported housing, housing for older people – and develop homes to be bought outright. Our Group also includes two education and training providers and a home independence agency.

Where we are heading: Where do you want us to go? We’ve got plans to continue our growth, but we also need to make sure our services are delivering a real positive impact for the people we’re here to serve.

We need you!

If you already have bags of experience, then we want to hear from you. We are after some great Non-Executive Directors to join our Board. We need people with a variety of skills and/or lived experiences to ensure we ask the right questions and get the necessary assurances to keep us on track.

And if you are living in one of our properties, you can make a difference by either joining our Board as our Tenant Representative or joining one of our committees as an Independent Representative. Use your unique experience and insight as one of our customers to help us be even better at what we do.

Or, if you have never been a Board member before but would like to give it a try, you could become a Trainee Board Member through our new Board training programme. You can learn more about the role and pick up the skills you need to become one of our next generation of Board members.

What we will give you:

Whether you join us as a Non-Executive Director, an Independent Representative or a Trainee Board member, then we will give you:

  • The chance to make a real difference for our customers
  • A friendly place in which to deliver your services to us
  • Full governance support in your role
  • An iPad so that you can access all your board papers and other documentation we need you to have
  • Remuneration and reimbursement of reasonable expenses, in accordance with your Agreement for Services and our Board Member Expenses Policy

If you are interested in the Trainee role, then in addition to the above we are also working with Housing Diversity Network who will help us to provide you with an exciting, structured two-year training programme. This will include a number of virtual training sessions and mentoring, while also getting to really know us and the services that we provide. By the end of the programme, you will be ready to take on a full Board member role with us.

What you will give us in return:

  • Your time and your commitment.
  • You will be suitably prepared for your meetings, comfortable reading reports and confident enough to share your views with us (we don’t bite).

We have six board meetings a year (Monday mornings and a mix of in person and virtual). We also ask that you give enough time in the week before the meeting to read the reports in preparation for the meeting.

We also have two board strategy events per year. The main event is usually in the November and is an overnight stay (Friday morning to Saturday lunchtime) and the other is usually in May for a full day.

If you are one of our brilliant trainees, then there will also be training element of the role that you will need to give your time and commitment to that additional time too.

How to take this further…

If you want to apply for one of these amazing roles, then what you need to do is send us a CV with:

  • a short (no more than two pages) supporting statement as to why you want to join our Board
  • tell us which role you are most interested in

Make sure everything is emailed to catherine.kelly@acisgroup.co.uk   and is with us by no later than 9am on Monday 5 September 2022.

Interviews will be held on the 12 and 13 September 2022, in person, at Acis House, Bridge Street, Gainsborough, Lincolnshire, DN21 1GG.
