Young people at Flare in Mablethorpe are celebrating after every single learner achieved a GCSE pass this summer.
English results across both our Flare centres reached a pass rate of 44% significantly above the national average, while maths results saw a combined centre pass rate of 25%, again outperforming national figures.
Liz Caldicott, Lead Tutor at Flare, said “We bucked the national trend last year, and we’ve done it again this year. Every learner who sat exams with us achieved a pass. That’s a huge achievement, not just for the young people but for the whole community that supports them.”
Flare, part of Clip, offers an alternative learning environment for 16 to 18-year-olds. Learners often join through referrals from schools, social workers, or families who want a smaller, more personalised setting.
Liz added: “Everyone comes to us with a different story, but they all leave with new skills, qualifications, and the confidence to move on to the next stage of their lives.”
From achieving essential English and maths qualifications to progressing into higher education, Flare learners are proving that success comes in many forms. One former student, once told she couldn’t pursue a science course, is now celebrating her master's degree in microbiology, following the support she received from Liz and her team.
“Success for one learner might be getting a grade 4 in English, while success for another might be going on to a Master’s,” Liz explained. “Every achievement matters.”
